HiAce Van: Battery warning light on
Suspect the alternator first. In every HiAce case we collected, a battery-shaped warning light led back to the alternator. A broken or slack belt triggers the same light, so if you can open the bonnet, check the belt is there first. Keep driving with the light on and the engine stops once the battery is drained.

- How to tell (things you can check yourself)
- The battery light comes on while driving (sometimes flickering). Headlights dim, power windows slow, revs drop when the air-con kicks in. Check the belt first; if it's there, it's almost certainly this. A rattle from the pulley is another sign.
- If you leave it
- With no charging you're running on what's left in the battery. In minutes to a few hours it runs out and the engine stops on the move — dangerous at night or on the motorway.

- 2005–2006 model years、62,985–287,207 km (median 107,762 km)。Concentrated on high-mileage vehicles, notably over 200,000 km.

Confirm with an inspection. A voltage test shows immediately whether it's charging, so have a workshop measure it first.
FAQ
- Will a new battery fix it?
- No. Nothing is charging it, so a new battery empties too. If the light stays on, check the charging side.
- How far can I drive?
- Depends on battery charge and electrical load. Switch off air-con, lights and navigation and head straight to a workshop. If it's far, get a tow.
- Is a rebuilt alternator OK?
- Most cases were fixed with rebuilt units. A rebuilt unit with a warranty is cheaper than new.
