HiAce Van: Air-con not cold
Suspect the A/C compressor and low refrigerant first; they are tied in our cases. Low refrigerant means a leak somewhere, so next suspect a leaking or blocked condenser (the thin heat exchanger in front of the radiator) or evaporator (inside the dash). If it only stops cooling at traffic lights and cools again on the move, that's a weak electric fan.

FAQ
- Will just adding gas fix it?
- If it's low it works for a while, but unless the leak is fixed it comes back. Leak check first.
- Is a rebuilt compressor OK?
- Most cases used rebuilt units. If it failed internally and shed metal, the pipes need flushing and other parts replacing too.
- Does the cabin filter matter?
- Early 200-series vans may have no filter as standard, so dust clogs the evaporator and airflow drops. If only the airflow is weak, start here.
